I don't have Windows 2003 here, it is a bit hard to keep a copy of every version that Microsoft releases.

The major change in 4.28 was the improved sound support. I am guessing this is causing the crash, as attempting to access the DirectSound interface might not be there.

Have you installed DirectX?

I have added a check in version 4.30 that the DirectSoundCreate system call is actually present, before calling it. This might solve your crash.

should be the DirectX Sound problem.
I think the problem will come out when a PC doesn't install the sound card, does it?

I think it is more likely to be because DirectX itself is not installed.
