trying to script for the first time. Trying to make an alias that enables a timer so that i can turn it on just by typing a few characters. I tried using the help files, but my big question is what field controls what the timer is named as? also assuming the name is "tim1" for the timer, how would that look?

In the GUI, the field called "Label" is the timer name.
