| Ok, I am going to try to build a Naruto Mud, cause hey... I think theres what... two? Anyway. I am looking for anyone that might help me with this project because well I am really new to programming and for it to work i'd need alot of programming help. First thing i would like to change the skill system... Heh yea... so that you'd have to hit certain hand seals then type in the command for the skill to use the skill. Aswell as change the combat system from auto fighting to having to manually punch, cause you cant punch and do hand seals now can you? I'd also like to get the fighting skills to check to see if they have a martial art and have special messages for the hits based on the martial art. I'd also need to find a way to add a ranking system and a way to setup if checks so i can have mob progs to check the specific rank and such, and from what I want thats just the begining... if someone would like to actually help make it happen that would be great, or just tips and suggestions on how to work some of the things would be great as well. Thank you. |

| You really want to think this over before starting. If you're starting a Naruto MUD because there are very little, consider it first.
Take a look at this topic about starting a MUD:
http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=2293
Quote: Reality check: 90% of all the MUD in existence will fail.
90% of the implementers of those MUDs had the same visions.
80% of those implementers failed before they started. |

| I own NarutoMUD and I can tell you, Naruto is a tricky one. It is tough because it is complex, Naruto isn't as simple as say a Dragonball Z where you have basically the same moves done over and over with different energy colors. Also, you have complex battle strategies formulated in the anime which make me cringe in terror to think of how to handle it.
I'm not going to say I have a ton of experience programming but I have enough to know that unless you have thick skin, sharp wits and really, really thick skin. The old vets that are around have already lost their sanity and are hollow shells of their former self because of how crazy it is to run a game. I suggest you pick up a base and play around with it.
Work from the simple, edit something that said "Your Health is..." to "Your current Health statis is...". Work up. Rome wasn't burnt in a day. There is lots of general programming guides to find, I suggest getting a lot time to tool around with how a MUD works and knowing what goes on internally before trying to make your own.
Anyways, my advice to you is not to jump the gun, Zeno is right. Good luck regardless. |
