It seems I can't set char <player> race <race>
it says "not a valid player race" although the races are player races and selectable at creation even. Any ideas?

I believe the bug to be on line 1436 in act_wiz2.cpp below:

if (!IS_NPC(victim) && race_table[race]->pc_race())
{
ch->println( "That is not a valid player race." );
return;
}

Try replacing it with this and see if it helps:

if (!IS_NPC(victim) && !race_table[race]->pc_race())
{
ch->println( "That is not a valid player race." );
return;
}

I hope this solves your problem

Though, if you use set char race, it will not set any special race skills on the character that you set it on, i have modified the setrace command to take a player argument, and set the special race skills/spells, plus it will remove any spells/skills that are special to the race that they where before it was changed, though i have also included some special "dragon" race code, because dragons are a remort pcrace on my mud, though if ya like i can post the code here..

If you are going to post code from your MUD, please take into consideration that you will be posting a format of code that is modified from the original format of the dawn code and may cause complications for inexperienced coders to patch into later releases of the dawn code.

That is why I released two versions of the offline area editor. One Darksun & one original 100% dawn. If someone used the Darksun editor for their MUD and set trail, snow, & ice sectors and their current MUD code doesn't support those room sectors, their MUD will consistantly abort function.
