| | ok so I want to change the original area and redo the entire room that you start off in, I start by assigning myself the vnum related to the room then I edit the name and then the desc then the exits, when im done I hit savearea and then i hit reboot mud now. when i boot back up all the changes i have made area gone and it is back to the default. what am I doing wrong? |

| You might assign yourself the area rather than that room's vnum and use instaroom before you use savearea, finally, you might want to try hotboot rather than reboot mud now so you don't have to relogon to see if your changes stuck.
Personally, I far prefer to edit the area files manually in a text editor rather than online, but changes I make to my mud even online usually do stick. You didn't mention which version of Smaug you're using. If it's SmaugFUSS 1.8 or later, you can't use Nick's Area Editor because the area files are a very different format, but if you're using one of the older versions of Smaug then that's an option too. |
