When I leave the game alone and don't rename mushcnf.dst into mush.cnf, everything is fine. However, when I put mush.cnf in, I get

And then it never connects. I can rename restrict.cnf as well, but that doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem? I can't do anything without using mush.cnf

Sounds to me like you need to edit mush.cnf and fix up the things it is complaining about. There are lots of comments in there to help you.
