I've wondered about these options for over a decade, but...

What does "Smoother scrolling" actually do compared to not using it?

What am I supposed to see behave differently?

What does "Very Smooth Scrolling" do differently than "Smoother" or none at all?

What happens when I check both checkboxes?

What does "Alternative invers/hilight display" do?

I've never actually noticed a change when using these options.

I don't think they do as much as they used to, since miniwindows were introduced. The "very smooth scrolling" scolls the screen up a pixel at a time, before adding the new text.

I'm not sure. I can see a slight difference in the code, and in the release notes for 3.05:

Quote:

Version 3.05

5. Added a new option to display bold inverse text in an alternative way.

However I haven't yet reproduced a noticeable difference.

Ah. I'm glad it's not just me.

I kept thinking "I need to figure out what the difference is. It probably does something really cool if I'd just pay attention."
