Not sure if Mushclient needs new splash screen, I've made one though.

Not bad, I like the lamp and the name in it. The version number might be an issue, as that is static, and would not want to be altered every version, graphically I mean, it simply is laid onto the splash image as it is.

Hmm... I like the look on its own, but my personal opinion is that it's a bit flashy/busy considering the nature of MUSHclient. The wavy text is rather distracting, for example. That's just me, though.

Somehow it seems a little squished to me, as if it used to be wider and was shrunk horizontally. Is that just my imagination or was it resized? The version text, copyright and URL seem normal, but the lantern and "MUSHclient" feel shrunk.

I like the lantern, possibly it is slightly squashed. Maybe that is just the way the picture was uploaded.

I have been thinking about a new splash screen, so this is timely. :)

I would lose the version number altogether. I used to have a version number done in Photoshop, but then every new version I had to open Photoshop up, find the right font, and change it.

Now, the program simply draws the version on top of the graphic. So as long as there is a bit of spare room (eg. the bottom RH corner) left free, it can continue to do that.

I think I agree with the other posters about the word "MUSHclient" being too wavy. It's almost too much. Maybe try the general look (with the gradient and everything) but keep the text straight, or simply decreasing in size with a perspective look.

Thanks for doing that, looking forward to the next version!

I don't know where you got Java from. Java is completely different from JavaScript/JScript.

EDIT: I'll pass on commenting on the image in general, but I wouldn't include the technologies at all. Support for Ruby and Python is shoddy at best, unfortunately, because all languages except for Lua have to be shoehorned into the Windows Script Host.

I like the realistic one simply for its quality, but think the shisha splash would be best, simply because it seems like a typical splash screen of image.

I too agree with Twisol for the technologies information. And that Python is not shoddy, when you get the proper version. I know this, yet have never used it, but simply read every message on the boards, and have done so for a couple years now.

Simply put, use the shisha one, and keep the name simple and clean, and it will be GREAT.

There's only a few small quirks involving Python, one of which is particularly noticable but the others are stuff only really advanced scripters will truly notice.

I'm personally in favor of the shisha background one. It is pretty. Is the copyright on it good tho? What's the source? Was it released under a suitable CC (Creative Commons) license?

Edit: Mind you, in the plain variety later posted. The original one was ruined by the additions, imo. Too flashy indeed.

Hmm, sorry, I personally don't like any of them. They feel a little too showy/flashy for a simplistic program. Excellent effort though. :)

IMO, if a new splash/logo/icon were to be considered it may want to do away with the Aladdin lamp all together. The relationship never made sense to me.

After sleeping on it, I have to agree with Hana. Though, I don't see anything wrong with using a lamp!

I like the lamp sticking out of the sand:

However the white text could be more fancy, like the original one with the gradient colours (but still straight like you have it on this one).

Also I would avoid the ads, this isn't a site that is big on ads, so the simpler the better.

Personally, I like the simple splash screen that MUSH has right now. It's simple, well known as MUSHclient, and isn't distracting.

Don't fix what's not broken IMO.
