Alright, This may not be the right place to ask this question but its rather important. When I go to download cygwin, a little window comes up with a bunch of different packages to download.. which one do I need to compile?

Development tools - whatever it is called exactly. Things like gcc, make, diff, patch and so on.

Also the shell, bash for instance.
