Ok... Never mind. Just checked again, there was either something really wrong with the script I was using or this glitch was previously fixed. :p Seems to return the full string now, though why not before... Should have realized when Gammon didn't comment. lol

Right now it is (I assume) the only way someone can theoretically extend the implimentation unless the extension is color, variable or command definition.

MXP is extensible, so I don't see what is stopping you doing your own "<!ELEMENT ...>" definition. eg. for your example:

<!ELEMENT render ATT="stream" empty >

This then lets you use <render stream="blah"> without any error message. Then, inside the client (in MUSHclient anyway) you add a script routine for "Opening tag". This script routine gets passed all the attributes (parsed from the element) so you can then make it do whatever you want.

However if someone doesn't have your extra script routine installed then the client quietly discards the element. This is what you want, I think.

In older (current?) versions of zMUD you might see:

<render stream="blah">

in the output window, which - I submit - is not what you want.

Ah.. Yeah that would work.. Helps if you actually have some clue what you are doing. lol Didn't realize you could define elements like that or even think about the 'opening tag' scripting. :p
