Illegal name, try another / Names was working before?

I am having a similer problem as Saint but with mine its not the length it just says Illegal name, try another when the name its saying this to used to work fine I just moved the files from one folder to another.

name is stalker it used to work but for some reason now it will not. It is still in the player folder but even if i delete it and try to start this character as a new one the same error. Where can I look for illegal names?


I had another question as well when the characters die they a transported to their recall point how can I change that to have them goto a new area for the dead like a morgue or afterworld ?

If there is a mob ANYWHERE in ANY of the area files that has that same name or that same name as part of their name, then Rom won't let you use it as a character name. The only way I've found around it so far is to literally go into the area files and rename all instances of that name. Note: It only does the Name part, the short/long description can still use it.

Sorry, forgot this as well: I tried to manually create a pfile with the name I wanted to use as well, and even that didn't work, which is possibly why yours doesn't work when you copy it over.
