I've had this error with the MC notepad for a while now. I'm running v. 3.56, (just upgraded, so I havn't checked if later versions have the same error) on Win 98SE.

At seemingly random intervals, while I'm editing plugins, the notepad refuses to accept any more input. I can delete/cut, but I can't type or paste. When this happens the clipboard also seems to be cleared. Closing the window, and then reopening the plugin fixes it, but usually only for 10 secs or so. This doesn't happen every time, I use it, but I haven't managed to find a pattern yet.

How full is the notepad when this happens? (Bytes?) You can find out by pressing Alt+Enter when the notepad is open.

There is a limitation in the notepad size, it might be 32767 bytes under Windows 95/98. It is really just a Windows Edit control.

If you are editing a really big plugin you are probably better off with an external editor, like UltraEdit, SciTE or various other text editors that are available.
