Ok, I have a big problem. I was on the players folder and messing with the who class name for the classes. I was going to make them different for halloween and just have fun for a few minutes, then reboot back into old classes. I had done this before and All i did was change the text inside the qoutes. But when I did this to test it out first, it hung up the mud. So I just tried to import my code from my coding folder and did a make clean and make. It hung up as well. The mud is still running from previous reboot and if it were to crash then the mud would not reboot itself because it would get hung up. I'm trying to do gdb but it's different from what i'm used to with smaug. I'm using envy. Then after that didn't work. i made a backup of my player file in my coder file and put the player file from the running folder into my coding file to see if that worked. It didn't. So I removed that folder and put back in my own player folder from the backup and now that won't work either. So nothing is working. I don't know what I did to cause such a mess. Any thoughts as to what i can do?

First, if you changed a player file, I don't see how doing a make will help. The problem is you have corrupted the data somehow.

If you have really only changed a player file, can't you just connect as a different player?

Whatever file you changed (eg. class file) don't you have a backup you can restore?

I did have a backup, I had backup code, and player files. Whenever the mud starts up again, it just hangs. no one would be able to connect. In this code, the who class name is in the const.c file. it's not actually in the playerfile. my backup did work but it was the pfiles from about two weeks ago. So i tried to put the current player files into the backup and that hung it up. then i took the current files back out and put in my old backup files again. and it still hangs up. no one can connect.

I was changing the code in const.c And i was only changing in the who class names IE warrior would show up scoundrel in who but that's it. So i wasn't actually changing classes. just the who class name. So for some reason it's corrupting my pfiles even though everything is back to normal and i've switched pfiles to backups.
