| If I don't want to lose all my previous settings from the old version, is there a way I can just upgrade from 3.42 to 3.45?

| Just installing the new version should keep all existing settings. Just to be on the safe side I would back up my world files (ie. the .MCL files).
The only thing to watch out for is if you changed a file in the install, like exampscript.vbs, that will be overwritten by the installer. Save any files like that, that you have changed.
