I think he must be talking about displaying the prompt at the bottom of the screen - some muds offer a status bar using VT100 emulation. For example I offer one that's displayed at the top of the screen[1], but it could also go at the bottom.

Although MUSHclient doesn't support curses[2], it's certainly possible to do the same sort of things (and much much more) with plugins[3].
